An exciting creative course – it will provide learners with the practical skills and knowledge needed to work with Royal Icing.  The learner will develop practical skills using a range of techniques and equipment in the planning, preparation, construction and presentation of boards decorated with Royal Icing - key to development and confidence building with this versatile sugar medium...

 

The qualification will focus on ‘Design’ and ‘Sampling Ideas' (six  pieces of experimental design work), together with creating and presenting 'Four Finished Boards with Royal Icing to a chosen design' and much more with lots of hints and tips during 30 hours of professional tuition…

Who is the qualification for?

 

This qualification is suited to those learners who want to enhance their hobby/interest and potentially use as a basis for self-employment (set up own business, thus give credibility), OR work or want to work in cake decoration (a bakery or junior chef) – it also forms a great stepping stone to those who wish to progress to Levels 1 and 2 Certificates and further develop their skill set.

 

City & Guilds is a recognised world-wide qualification – no other qualification offers the same credibility!

 

Entry & Registration requirements

 

No formal entry requirements, though it would be advantageous for students to have an interest in sugarcraft, cake decoration and design – photographs of your current creations are useful to support your registration.

Monday, 1800-2100

 

Course duration

30 hours,  5 DECEMBER 2016 to 13 MARCH 2017 - (10 lessons)

 

Term Outline Dates:   Dec 2016-Mar 2017 (incs. Spring Half-Term)

Cost

£10 per hour approx. Total:  £315, with a deposit of £150 payable upon completion of registration form to secure your place, the balance payable two weeks prior to start date.  Payment made via Internet Banking/BACS, details to be provided, along with our Terms & Conditions applicable – copy provided with registration form.

 

Course Fee covers

•Expert tuition, demonstration, guidance and support

•Printed handouts on techniques, skills and recipes

•Use of basic equipment and tools in a state-of-the-art spacious kitchen/cookery self-contained environment (ground floor location)

•Access to some sugarcraft tools and equipment in class – share with other students

 

What’s not included

•City & Guilds registration certificate/award/verifying fees… details available upon application.

 

Specialist sugarcraft and cake decoration equipment, tools and materials required to fulfil the course year, together with appropriate protective clothing, i.e. apron, closed in shoes etc. – an outline guidance list will be provided upon completion of your registration form, allowing you to research and buy cost effective equipment and tools prior to course start.

 

Refreshments: it is the responsibility of the students/learners to bring appropriate refreshments to be consumed during the break time allotted, though tea, coffee & milk is provided.
